SLF-Carolinas to Expand Board of Directors in 2013

The Strategic Leadership Forum of the Carolinas is actively seeking new members to join our Board of Directors. Our mission is to create dialogue that inspires and enables strong leadership. To achieve this, we host small-format, highly-interactive discussions as well as large-format presentations and panelist events. The key operational focus of SLF-Carolinas is to produce 5-6 high-quality forums a year with practical take-aways. Leaders participating in these forums range from CEO’s to middle managers in large enterprises.

We have an efficient board structure, with an Executive Board consisting of Peter Schild, Chair; and Ryan Tomberlin and Jim Deupree, Vice Chairs. SLF-Carolinas currently has a total of ten Directors with the goal of growing to 13 Directors in 2013. The time commitment for serving as a board member is principally around planning and executing our events – averaging about three hours per month. These new board members will help design and conduct programs that are highly responsive to the needs of leaders – practical, real and innovative with the potential for immediate impact. They will personally benefit from an increased awareness of innovative leadership characteristics, through participation in some amazing dialogue and from networking with our participants – other leaders. They will also benefit from gaining board experience and credentials.

To achieve this mission and relate to our participants, the board members need to be in active leadership roles themselves. By example, the newest addition to our Board of Directors is Heath Osburn, who’s latest leadership role was General Manager for Chiquita Brands. Heath proactively stated during a conversation that he was interested in getting involved in an organization where he could share and apply his leadership accumen, and currently serves as our interim Membership Committee Chair. Our board needs to reflect the diversity of our participants, on every measure, and applications are encouraged from those across all industries and disciplines regardless of previous experience serving in the capacity of board member. We especially encourage those with experience in event planning, marketing, web management and strategic partnerships to apply.
