SLF-Carolinas is governed by a Board of Directors comprising of global thought leaders and senior executives who volunteer significant time to oversee the alignment of activities with the stated Vision, Mission and Strategy. The Executive Committee and Committee Chairs — composed of elected Officers and Board members — are responsible for providing and guiding the strategic direction of SLF-Carolinas.

Chair Emeritus (deceased) – Marilyn Ross, SLF-Carolinas Founder.
Marilyn developed over 30 years experience in executive leadership, human resources management and organizational development. She held several senior-level positions with major corporations, including American Broadcasting Corporation, Chase Manhattan Bank and Wachovia Bank. In her last role before retiring in 2012, Marilyn served as Senior VP for Beam Pines, Inc., a Global Talent Management Company. Executive Committee

Peter is a seasoned professional with experience in audit committee/board reporting, risk governance, internal audit, banking, securities and commodities regulations and operations, finance, and merger consolidation. He is experienced in high-growth environments and is skilled in building teams that make a difference. He has spoken at universities, conferences, and in various corporate and regulatory settings in the U.S., Europe, and Japan. Peter retired at the end of 2007 as Chief Audit Executive of Wachovia Corporation, having joined legacy First Union in that capacity in January 1995.Vice-Chair – Jim Deupree, President – ChapterTwo
As an entrepreneur, executive, consultant, advisor and author, Jim brings a broad set of experiences that have proven a tremendous asset to his senior executive and business owner clients. Jim is very active in a host of leadership and governance organizations, including The National Association of Corporate Directors, The Association for Corporate Growth, CEO Netweavers, the Board of Directors Network and Entrepreneur Advisors. He sits on the National Board of CEO Netweavers and the Advisory Board for the EMBA Program at Kennesaw State University.Vice-Chair – Ryan Tomberlin, President – RST Media Management
Ryan is a well-rounded marketing and media professional with over ten years of advertising, communication, business development and management experience in business-to-business and business-to-consumer capacities. Equally creative and analytical, Ryan enables organizations to facilitate collaborative leadership, develop organizational strategy and champion key organizational goals through internal and external marketing communication initiatives. In addition to providing consultative services through RST Media Management, Ryan also provides out-of-home media placement and online marketing and web development through his subsidiary companies, The Billboard Consortium and Thumbkuckle Media.Committee Chairs

Heath is an accomplished leader with extensive experience in consumer-focused businesses including Nabisco, Kraft, Oreo, Planters, Post, Pfizer and Chiquita. He has driven results at strategic as well as execution levels, and he is skilled at simplifying the complex, gaining leadership alignment and making things operationally feasible. Core competencies include consumer marketing & research, innovation & pipeline cultivation, strategy creation, business assessment, P&L management, and people/team development. Judy Nelson brings over 20 years of sales and marketing experience to the SLF board. Her sales expertise in human resources, leadership, and healthcare allow her to stay on the forefront of the challenges facing businesses. Currently, she is Vice President and Senior Business Service Officer for F&M Bank. Judy’s previous experience includes roles as District Manager for Flex-Pay Business Services, assisting employers across the Carolinas and Virginia with their human resource and human capital industrial needs, and as AVP Senior Sales Officer for Farr Associates, a leadership and organizational development firm and Senior Director for Mid Atlantic Medical. Meg Maloney has been practicing law in Charlotte since graduating from Duke Law School in 1985. She has handled a wide variety of employment law and litigation cases on behalf of local, regional, national and international clients in multiple industries, and in 2008 opened her own law practice, Maloney Law & Associates. Meg has worked as a board member, officer, committee member, or lawyer for a variety of nonprofits over the years including the Charlotte Women’s Bar, North Carolina Dance Theater, Charlotte Children’s Choir, Legal Services of Southern Piedmont, Moving Poets Theater of Dance, Community School of the Arts, Hornet’s Nest Girl Scout Council, YWCA of Charlotte, and the Humane Society of Charlotte.
